Fable 3: First Impressions

Today, I had the pleasure of attending Eurogamer Expo in the sunny town of London. One of the games on show was Fable 3.  Now, this game has been highly anticipated for quite some time, and after the success of Fable 2, I was really looking forward to getting my hands on it. However, I was slightly disappointed with what they had to show.

Firstly, the gameplay is almost identical to that of Fable 2, with very few new features. One cool thing that has been added is extra kill animations. These look brutal, and add a little bit of flare to the gameplay.  The lack of original features means that players coming from Fable 2 will be instantly familiar with the controls, and should be able to get stuck in quite quickly.

One of the gameplay options was similar to that of a castle defence game. Hordes of enemies come to get you while you use your will powers to blow them up before they reach a certain point. This was pretty fun and really demonstrated the potential of the new abilities and powers.

Overall, I thought that what was on show at Eurogamer Expo was a little bit of a let down, and hasn’t lived up to the hype surrounding the game. However, I can see the potential of a great game come release date, and being able to work on a character from the beginning will definitely aid to the game.
